FAQ

Q: I am a very private person. Why can’t I see this doctor and follow this dietary program on an individual basis?

A: Experience has shown that people are much more successful when losing weight in a group than as an individual. We are focused on maximum success for each person, therefore following the most effective method, i.e. a group format. Confidentiality contracts are signed and strictly adhered to. What happens in the group, stays in the group.

Q: Why am I not allowed to exercise while losing weight? I thought exercise helped with weight loss?

A: This is a restricted calorie eating plan. Studies have shown marginal benefits in weight loss in people who exercised but did not significantly restrict their calorie intake, vs people who did not exercise and also did not restrict their calorie intake. When calorie intake was significantly restricted, exercise made no difference in the amount of weight lost.

Exercise also stimulates appetite which makes it more difficult to adhere with a restricted calorie eating plan

Q: May I drink alcohol during the program?

A: No alcohol is allowed while you are still losing the excess weight. Alcohol will be introduced again when you reach your goal weight.

Q: My life is busy. I don’t want to attend every week?

A: If you don’t attend regularly, especially during the foundation phase, this will severely impact your success.

Q: Does this program involve any pills, powders or injections?

A: This program is based on a scientifically calculated eating plan, specifically combining amounts of different foods to ensure success. It does not involve any pills, powders or injections. Nutritional supplements are discussed during the program as part of teaching on optimal health, and a multivitamin with minerals and a Magnesium supplement is advised on the start of the program. Taking or not taking these supplements will however not affect the success of weight loss.
